On the server I wanted to test, I executed nc -6 -l 8080 and on the VM nc -6 IP 8080 and sent a message. The server got the message, so I know I could connect to IPv6. I just had to change VNet and Network Interface to support IPv6 and attach the IPs to the network interface.

Our DHCPv6 server will assign IPv6 addresses to all DHCPv6 clients and it will keep track of the bindings. In short, the DHCPv6 servers knows exactly what IPv6 address has been assigned to what host. Stateless works a bit different…the DHCPv6 server does not assign IPv6 addresses to the DHCPv6 clients, this is done through autoconfiguration .

Both in my lab testing and on real installation I saw that, after a dcpromo (done via "Server Manager" on Windows 2016), a loopback IPv6 address is automatically added on the interface DNS settings (ie: ::1 as primary and sole DNS)..
